Hi everyone,

We are in the home stretch for the school year, and summer is so close, I can practically taste the platters of heirloom tomato slices drizzled with good olive oil and flaky sea salt. Pretty soon, our days will be long and aimless, which feels so welcome after such a hectic Spring. Of course, by August I will be positively desperate for daily structure again, but for now, bring on the freedom, flexibility and extra time with my kids.

Before school gets out, though, I am pretty determined to optimize my diet and fitness routine so that I can start summer off on the right foot. I want to build my body confidence, and, even more importantly, feel healthy, energized and vibrant all season long. I recently listened to an interview with Dr. Stacy Sims and was so inspired by what she had to say about being healthy in your 40’s and beyond. Instead of working out to hit a goal weight, I’m currently focusing on building strong bones and lean muscle mass so that I can enjoy a long, active healthspan. I recently started lifting heavier weights (I’m such a newbie in the weight room, but, baby steps!) and was curious about how to tweak my diet so that it can support my goals while still keeping a heavy emphasis on disease prevention, enjoyment and satiation. Out of curiosity, I decided to ask ChatGPT for advice (mine already has a sense for how I like to eat and what my health priorities are) and I was so happy with the response it gave me! I received very detailed, easy to follow nutritional guidelines and meal building strategies that are seemingly doable and effective. I’ve been following the guidelines for the last few days and admittedly feel great. I’m excited to see where this takes me, and if nothing else, it’s very motivating to make better choices throughout the day.
