The Sunday Table (aka "Favorite Things")
A new name for my former "Favorite Things" round-up of everything I'm reading, watching, wearing, cooking, etc.
Happy Memorial Day weekend! Today is off to a good start. My kids let me “sleep in” until 7:15 (sigh), I had my coffee outside on the porch listening to the birds, and we still have extra weekend left, thanks to the Memorial Day holiday here in the States.
It occurred to me that I haven’t done a Favorite Things newsletter in a bit, but truth be told, the series has been in need of a re-brand for a while. Regular readers know that I typically send out a bi-weekly round up of whatever I’m reading, watching, listening to, buying, cooking, etc. It’s a fun post to write, and I know lots of you love it, too! I never loved the title, so I’ve decided to change it to The Sunday Table. This not only reminds me of one of my favorite traditions of a long, slow, lovingly prepared Sunday meal, but evokes coziness, togetherness and the feeling of sitting around a table, chatting about things both serious and frivolous.
So, please come join me at The Sunday Table!
I’ll be making this Lemon Blueberry Crisp tomorrow for a Memorial Day BBQ (swapping the dairy butter for Miyoko’s butter).
I’ve been watching Sirens and really enjoying it, partially because a lot of it was filmed near my former home on Long Island. The cast is great, too.
The news broke last week that Modern Love, a landmark vegan restaurant in Brooklyn, is closing. I never made it to Modern Love but was really sad to hear the news anyway; its owner, Isa Chandra Moskowitz, is a true pioneer of vegan cuisine and I’ve loved her always good, always reliable recipes for years. I can’t wait to see what she does next!
The healing power of sunshine.
This organic cotton sweater is perfect for cooler beach days and comes in so many pretty colors.
Have a great Sunday, everyone!
SAFE (did I say SAFE?) sun exposure is the best medicine money can buy! There is no manufactured, engineered or man-made product that comes close to the health promoting benefits of natural sunlight...did I mention that it's important to be sure it's SAFE ? (don't bake yourself or your children during the time(s) of day when the sun is way too strong which happens mostly during the summer season.
